Shanita Nichols is a proud Fairburn resident, nonprofit leader, and community advocate. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Shanita embraces her identity as a “Boston Peach,” blending her Northern upbringing with deep Southern roots in Augusta, Georgia, where her mother was raised. In 2019, she and her husband chose Fairburn as their home—just ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic—and have since planted strong roots in the community, raising their two sons here.
Shanita holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and African American Studies from Smith College and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Corporate Social Responsibility from Simmons University. A first-generation college graduate, she brings more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, financial stewardship, and education advocacy, with a career rooted in expanding opportunity, advancing equity, and breaking generational cycles.
Her mission has always been rooted in equity, inclusion, and access—principles that guide both her professional work and her community advocacy. Inspired daily by her husband, their two sons, and the Fairburn community, Shanita remains deeply committed to service. She is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, carrying forward its values of sisterhood, service, and leadership.

Strengthen Small Businesses & Create Jobs

Cut red tape so local entrepreneurs can start and expand businesses more easily.

Launch a “Buy Fairburn First” initiative to keep dollars circulating locally.

Partner with county and state programs to bring in job-creating investments aligned with community values.
Update Policies for Transparency & Access

Overhaul outdated city policies to require real transparency in budgets, contracts, and council actions.

Expand community access to City Hall through open data, town halls, and neighborhood-based input sessions.
