SHANITA NICHOLS FOR FAIRBURN CITY COUNCIL

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Shanita proudly embraces her identity as a “Boston Peach,” blending her Northern upbringing with her deep Southern roots in Augusta, Georgia, where her mother was raised. In 2019, she and her husband made Fairburn their home, just before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Shanita earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and African American Studies from Smith College and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Corporate Social Responsibility from Simmons University. With more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, financial stewardship, and education advocacy, she has dedicated her career to expanding opportunity and uplifting underserved communities.

A first-generation college graduate, Shanita knows firsthand the power of education to change lives and break generational cycles. Her mission has always been rooted in equity, inclusion, and access—principles that guide both her professional work and her community advocacy. She is passionate about ensuring that every voice is heard and every resident has access to essential resources and opportunities.

Inspired daily by her husband and their two sons, Shanita is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, carrying forward its values of sisterhood, service, and leadership in all that she does.

Now, Shanita is ready to take her lifelong commitment to advocacy to the next level as a candidate for Fairburn City Council. She is dedicated to leading with transparency, fostering meaningful partnerships, and ensuring progress that reflects the needs and aspirations of every Fairburn resident. Her vision is simple yet powerful: to build an inclusive, thriving community where all families can flourish.
